چکیده

One dimensional post-normal shock flow calculations are carried out using state-ofthe-art thermochemical nonequilibrium models. Two-temperature, four-temperature, and electronic master equation coupling models are adopted in the present work. In the fourtemperature model, the rotational nonequilibrium is described by Parker and modified Park models. In the electronic master equation coupling model, recently evaluated electron and heavy-particle impacts and radiative transition cross sections are employed in constructing the system of electronic master equations. In analyzing the shock-tube experiments, the results calculated by the state-of-the-art thermochemical nonequilibrium models are compared with existing shock-tube experimental data. The four-temperature and electronic master equation coupling models with rotational nonequilibrium described by the modified Park model approximately reproduce the measured rotational, vibrational, and electronic temperatures.

Modeling of Rotational Nonequilibrium in Post-Normal Shock Flow Analyses

Recent modeling of thermal nonequilibrium processes in simple molecules like hydrogen and nitrogen has indicated that rotational nonequilibrium becomes as important as vibrational nonequilibrium at high temperature. In this study, to analyze rotational nonequilibrium, the rotational mode is separated from the translational-rotational mode that is usually considered in two-temperature models. Th...

Master Equation Analysis of Thermochemical Nonequilibrium of Nitrogen

Using a NASA database of state-to-state transition rates for N+N2, master equation studies are performed for various nonequilibrium heat bath conditions. In these master equation studies, relaxation of the rotational and vibrational modes, time variation of chemical composition, reaction rate coefficients, and average rotational and vibrational energy losses due to dissociation are each conside...

Incomplete molecular chaos within dense-fluid shock waves.

Large-scale molecular dynamics simulations of an M(s) = 4.3 shock in dense argon (rho = 532 kg m(3), T = 300 K) and an M(s) = 3.6 shock in dense nitrogen (rho = 371 kg m(3), T = 300 K) have been performed. The two-point molecular velocity correlation function is calculated within slices in plane with the shock wave. Long-range (approximately ten molecular radii) positive correlations (correlati...

Experimental analysis of shock waves turbulence in contractions with rectangular sections

Formation of shock waves has an important role in supercritical flows studies. These waves are often occurring during passage of supercritical flow in the non-prismatic channels. In the present study, the effect of length of contraction wall of open-channel for two different geometries (1.5 m and 0.5 m) and fixed contraction ratio was investigated on hydraulic parameters of shock waves using ex...
